Hello, everyone! The blog we have chosen to do our presentation on is
AdPulp. This blog is ran by three men named Shawn, Dan, and David. They are very interested in improving communication and that is why they "nit-pick" at advertisements, and a variety of them. The guys seem very respectable because they do not attack advertisement companies in a vigorous way.
AdPulp claims to have never received any sort of spam comments (although, it seems as if there is hardly any at all) and that they have been quoted by the
Wall Street Journal. They say what they feel and keep it short, sweet, and to the point. We hope you like the blog we have chosen and let us know what you think!
These guys seem to be intelligent, respectful people. They do not seem to have anyone who doesn't like their blog. They focus more on the content of the advertisements and keep their comments respectful. They do not rant about how bad advertising or marketing is either like the first guy we looked at. I feel like because of this fact, they are much more effective in getting their point across. It seems to be a very good blog.
ReplyDeleteI agree, The blog seems to be more about informing the reader about the topics and ads, rather than offering a critic's point of view. Both forms of blog are effective, but this definitely has a friendlier tone to it.
ReplyDeleteAdpulp doesn't even just focus on advertising. The first column I read was about how to help companies develop themselves. So not only are they providing insight and analysis on various marketing realms, but they are also offering advice and sharing their wealth of knowledge about the field. I agree these guys come off very respectful and as a result earn a lot of praise from plenty of prestigious publishing and advertising companies.
ReplyDeleteAdpulp at first glance appeared to me as kind of boring compared to some blogging sites that we have looked at so far, but as I looked further into the sight I actaully found some interesting topics being discussed. The Stand For Something article was an interesting alternative to sitting at a desk all day and was something I have never thought about. The Mobile Advertising Idealized article I found funny because it disucssed how mobile devices soon will be able to detect your mood and track where you are. Sounds crazy, but definitly not unlikely. Adpulp seemed to cover a wide variety of topics that could appeal to mnay audiences and although there weren't many comments by readers, the advertisments looked at on the sight were more informational and less controversial, causing people to just think and not get upset or angry. The Adpulp writers choose topics that were pretty neautral, but i think a little controversy would make the site even better.
ReplyDeleteWe considered doing this blog too since we found it interesting and also ranked in the top 10 I think it was of the most popular/visited internet blogs. That's unique also since there are few comments to none for each post by the authors. Therefore something about this blog makes it addicting. Mainly I think since it's more leisurely and draws your attention down the screen. Since it's not full of criticism or bashing on anything, it's something to just scan through for fun. The authors do bring up some things that are in a way controversial that many probably have never seen, for instance has anyone looked at the "Violent Crime Not Sexy, Nor Desirable" ad? It was listed on the side tabs to view. I found that pretty interesting as did some who commented.
ReplyDeleteOverall I like this blog. Great choice. =D
Adpulp to me was a little different then what I've seen from other groups so fare. I like that they are open to look and push anything and everything they want to. On the other had for this class it maybe a little to out there. Over all still a great blog.
ReplyDeleteWhen i first looked at this blog, it seems boring and there is not much of topics to discuss. This blog is about giving insight on business analysis. Moreover, it's informative rather than controvertial. It's interesting that this blog is one of top rated advertising blog even though there aren't many comments on articles.
ReplyDeleteI agree that the guys running this blog are respectful. They commented on the ads in a friendly way. This blog covers relatively less topics than the other blogs we viewed before and most of the postings are related to business. But I find it interesting and I especially like the comments made by these three guys. They commented the ads positively and at the same time offer us many background information on each ads, which help us to better get the real intention of the ads.
ReplyDeleteFirst taking a look at the blog site, nothing caught my eye like some of the other blog sites did. There were not as many bright and attracting colors as some of the other sites, which made this one more relaxed and not as interesting. After going through the first posts i was not very interested in continuing through the rest of the site, but i found some interesting blogs after searching through. I liked the Mobile Advertising article talking about how phones will soon be able to detect your mood, which is flat out crazy. Overall i think this blog site was interesting, but was not my favorite of the blogs sites.
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed this blog; I think it's my favorite so far. I like the more relaxed feel to it, and the lack of very much controversial material. All of the information they present is interesting, but not super deep and thought-provoking. As I skimmed the site I found myself drawn to the next article, and the next and the next... I think the way they put this blog together is great for a casual read during a study/work break. I appreciated the objective feel to their comments on the ads and in the comments, very middle ground. I like that they ask questions and point out details without trying to convince readers what they should think, instead just trying to get people to think about the post and draw their own conclusions.
ReplyDeletei can't say i really cared for this blog. to be honest it lacks a "wow" appeal of any sort. the site itself is very bland looking, while the disscusion of ads aren't very interesting. i agree with the general theme that its a "classy" ad review site, however i think that makes it a little boring. the main issue is it needs more opinion, even if that means they have to be a little agressive towards the ads.
ReplyDeleteI find it unique that you found a site that has seems to be very neutral with advertising, when most of society generally has a negative feel towards it and we expect to get that feel. And although it is good to present information without bias and keep things negative, I found myself not really able to focus and getting me to think about any sort of issue brought up, which generally you want to write something to get people to notice or think about a subject.
ReplyDeleteMany of the comments state that the blog appears boring at first, and I won't disagree. It does lack sort of a "wow" factor, but the information is interesting and these guys know what they are talking about. Like JCheeks41248 said, they are sharing their knowledge about the field rather than just bashing ads.
ReplyDeleteThe blog itself seem a lot different meaning,it was less interesting and not as exciting as the past blogs were. The blog had great points and decent ads to look in read on the page. It was boring because it didn't give readers that extra edge they have seen in the last couple of blog pages.Even though its great to be positive, sometimes its not always bad to have negative comments to keep the conversation interesting and better.
