The blog that our group chose is called, Why Advertising Sucks, and can be found at http://www.adssuck.blogspot.com/. By reading the title of the blog alone, you are able to tell what type of perspective the blog will take. This blog can be rather risqué at times, for example, the language and description of the ads use vulgar language and can be rather offensive. What kind of readers do you think the blog attracts? What kind of audience do you think the author is writing for? It is hard to find information about the author, but once we did we learn that the author is a guy in the advertising industry and he created the blog to share his ideas and experiences about advertising. The blog has a motto, “Stopping you just in time from killing someone since 2005.” The author says this is his motto because he wants to share why advertising has its bad side, but also why he loves doing it regardless. Make sure to look on the right side of the blog, and scroll down to see “Our Fans Favorite Rants.” This seems to be one of the more crude blogs we’ve looked at; however, it gives you a glimpse of how much is out there in terms of advertising blogs. Take note of the blogs appearance and author’s general stance and tone. Let us know what you think.

  1. Honestly, I don't quite like this blog. In describing his/her work experience, the author uses aggressive and vulgar language to attack the ads industry.Compared with the blogs we viewed before, this one focus more on the work experience as a ads designer. I think the author is writing for the guys who also work in ads industry.By sharing his/her understanding about advertising, the author wants me people to accept his/her ideas.

  2. I am with Zechen on this one...I do not like this blog. It was hard to navaiagte becasue the posts were not just right there like the other blogs. The author is definitly targeting an audinence of advertisers or wanna be advertisers with the topics he writes about. Disucsing how to make in the adertsising industy is something only advertisers would mostly be interested in so that made the blog less appealing to me and the crude humor was funny at some times, but to be honest i just felt it wsn't nessacary with the topics he was disscussing. He appears to be making fun of the crazy advertising industry, but they way he gives advice and talks about it is not the way i think he should go about it.

  3. The author definitely has his opinions on the advertising industry and he is not shy about expressing them. When I looked at this site though I found it to be more of a personal blog, with advertisements on the side. He talks about his seemingly unfulfilling career in the advertising industry and occasionally rips on other ads. I am not a huge fan of this blog, but I respect the authors ability to state his opinion clearly and just go with it.

  4. When I opened the blog it was definitely hard to find the posts like Meredith said. I'm not positive about this one either along with everyone, and comparing it to Copyranter, I'm not sure which one I would choose. I think the author of this one is really blunt on what he says and doesn't really care about what his viewers would think regardless. I really didn't see too many posts so I think he sets it that way since how would you criticize him or what would you even say? The language at times can be a bit extreme and is mainly directed at advertising in general and his quirks therefore the audience is selective. It's a very interesting blog and definitely will turn heads. Most likely isn't one that I'll view again after seeing the other ones already presented.

  5. The first blog entry on the page is a talking dog. By seeing this as the websites first blog entry it makes the blog site seem as if it is a very comical and not very issue related type of blog. The type of audience that is targeted would be people who are looking for confidence, or ways to make themselves have a warm heart. One of the blogs that really caught my attention was the Bravo Johnson and Johnson Nurses Heal tv spot. The short clip is very heart warming and i can see how bloggers would like to view this blog. In looking through the blog, it is one of the harder blogs to navigate. I don't think that the humor the author was trying to make exactly works for this blog. When he is talking about making the advertising industry and making it more known to the public doesn't exactly fit with the type of writing that the author writes.

  6. This blog is definitely very crude, blunt and difficult to navigate to find any post that in the past may have been of interest. His choice of motto and from what i've read on the blog doesn't really show his "love for advertising" that he apparently claims. Many of the posts I saw weren't even related to advertising it seemed. To me the site came off as someone who seemed to be not entirely satisfied with their job and hoping to change the industry.

  7. The thing that i found most annoying about this blog was how hard it was to get through the site. I think that the tone of the writer, doesnt contribute to something i would want to read. I find that the readers would not be high for this blog, and it would go to a smaller group of people. I think the writer was to vain to get a lot of readers.

  8. I really am not a fan of this blog site. He doesn't talk as much about advertisements and when he does he is very brutal. He Mostly just tries to complain about his job and kinda over-runs the advertising theme. Overall, not my favorite.

  9. im definatley not a fan. im not a fan of this blog site or the author. The guy seems stuck up to me and it seems like he is more interested on a blog about himself rather than the advertisements. the advertisements are just on the side. i found it really hard to navigate, you had to search for the posts. when the guy says that he loves advertising, i just dont really see it.

  10. I did not mind the style of the blog, in that it targeted people who work in the advertising field, of the language and content, but I would agree with the general opinion that the author is a bit off-putting. He seems to be talking down to the reader, which, in his defense, could be entirely accidental. When he calls the reader "People", "padawans", and "boys and girls" (one does not have to look long for more examples) it makes it seem like he is somehow in a position of authority.
